Government 

Leon County Research and Development Authority (online at http://lcrda.org/ ) owns and operates Innovation Park (online at  http://innoparkcenter.org/).  Its mission is to work in cooperation with Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College to:

• Promote scientific research and development activities
• Foster economic development and broaden the economic base of Leon County

It offers a Technology Commercialization Grant that supports new and expanding businesses in Leon County in laboratory and analytical services, patent consultation and research instrumentation.  It also supports a Technology Incubator in partnership with the FAMU Small Business Development Center. 

Education

Florida State University Office of Research supports faculty members who are pushing the edges of knowledge in their field.  A division of the Office of Research, the Office of IP Development and Commercialization (Tech Transfer) creates partnerships between university researchers and outside organizations to take these developments to market to the broader society.

The cancer drug Taxol was developed at Florida State University.
