Niles West is a student-centered learning environment that creates opportunities for success and inspires lifelong learning. Various opportunities exist for the public to engage in the Niles West community, including band, choir and orchestra shows put on, productions by the Drama club, and sports matches by the various Freshmen, Junior-Varsity, and Varsity teams. The school offers clubs for the students in various categories including academics, athletics, cultural, fine arts, government, and service. The Niles West campus includes an observatory with a 15' rotating dome and a 10' telescope, donated due to a grant from the Yerkes Observatory, the ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education), and the Niles West PTSA.
