Marge's Flowers is a family-owned store currently run by Gloria and Ron. The business was named after Gloria's mother-in-law Marge. Marge's parents grew carnations but they lost their farm after the Great Depression. When the business was first starting, there were a lot of customers and the store did well. Marge's parents grew carnations and that is how the business started. There was extensive foot traffic back then, and many people walked around and bought flowers. Marge's Flowers is able to serve many regular customers and build relationships with their customers, but also cater to new people as well. As Skokie had a large Jewish population, Marge's Flowers was able to cater to the many Jewish holidays and help them, so they have a long history with that population. They also provided flowers for the various graduations in local schools, and for funerals as well. Marge's Flowers had a good reputation with the various stores back when it first started and with the local stores today. Gloria sees the process of selling flowers as a very personal act, and they hope to continue serving the community.
