What is DPRC about?

The Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC) supports both employees, and students, with disabilities in navigating all facets of university life.  In particular, they act as an advocate and support network to ensure academics, employment is accessible to all, so that individuals with disabilities have an equitable experience at San Francisco State University.

Findings on accommodations:

The Disability Programs and Resource Center assists students with learning differences. This support includes accommodations tailored to the individual’s learning needs. Students served may be coming in with no prior history of receiving such services and will have to begin by being diagnosed either by an outside source, or by the DPRC staff. The student must then work with DPRC to ensure all the required DPRC online registration form , DPRC assessment forms, doctors notes, and/or testing has been filled out prior to receiving accommodations. While other students will transfer over their files and accommodations from their previous school. In this case the standard DPRC online registration form is required  before one can continue to utilize their previous accommodations. If you are entering as a freshman, transferring in, or a current student recently recognizing your need for support due to a disability, DPRC is your lifeline. Without their support school aides will be inaccessible.

Things you should know:

  • DPRC supports incoming transfer students with existing accommodations.  However, standard intake protocols may not apply to all students, in particular, non-traditional students.
  • All forms are due before the semester begins, see https://access.sfsu.edu/register
  • Once all forms have been accepted and approved, you can now go to myDPRC  which will take you to your dashboard to and sign any additional acknowledgments, along with selecting class accommodations required for each class.
