1924 1

The Ray Building was a large, 10-story office building at 1924 Broadway, constructed by Fisk M. Ray. The building was designed by Willis C. Lowe, completed in 1924, and opened at the beginning of 1925. 1 It was later the headquarters of Kaiser Industries.

Kaiser purchased the building in 1944. 3 In 1945, they were given a permit to add a penthouse. 4 The 1950 Sanborn labels it Kaiser Building, and a double-page ad in 1952 touts it as the headquarters of Kaiser. 5

Kaiser still owned it in 1989 when it was badly damaged by the Loma Prieta earthquake. In 1992, Kaiser filed to demolish the building. 2
