Knucklehead Santa and Chaz the Elf are a couple of knuckleheads from Oakland who every Christmas, drive around Oakland in classic cars and give away toys and warm clothes to kids. "This is about being from Oakland and giving back to Oakland." 1
Alex Cox grew up on 38th Avenue, not far from Fruitvale BART, and in 2008, he and Chaz the Elf (aka Alan Smith) "stumbled upon the joy of giving." The giving has gotten bigger each year, and their goal is to have it double each year. In the past they've gotten support from Oakland Firefighters Random Acts, but are in the process of getting their own 501(c)3 so they can more easily accept donations directly.
