The California State Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., was formed in 1906 and the Youth Affiliates was added in 1937.  The mission of the organization is to serve the needs of California’s Black Women and children.

The California State Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. (C.S.A.C.W.C., Inc.), was organized in Oakland, California at the 15th Street A.M.E. Church by Mrs. Eliza Warner in July 1906. Mrs. Warner, who was from Los Angeles, California, was elected the first president. The members chose as their motto: “Deeds Not Words.” California Club Women established as its early goals, family solidarity, health, education, economic development, and human and civil rights. The members began to establish homes for young working women, day nurseries, children’s homes and homes for the aged.

California State Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., joined the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. (N.A.C.W.C., Inc.), in 1908. The National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., is the oldest national organization of Black Women in the United States of America.
