Thomas A. Fitzgerald, 50, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his home in Lake Clear, where he had lived for the past five years.

He was born December 27, 1918 in Lake Placid, a son of William J. and Lena Gladd Fitzgerald.

Besides his wife, Mary Alice Lalonde of Lake Clear, he is survived by his mother, of Utica; a son, John Henry Fitzgerald of Massena; two grandchildren; two brothers, William of Saranac Lake and Edward or Vttea [sic: of Utica?], and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Guilfoyle of Fulton.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a veteran of the Army in World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3120 in Tupper Lake, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks.

He was employed as a driver for REA Express and a boiler operator for the Lake Placid Club.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home. A veterans' service will be held at 7:30 on Wednesday evening and a rosary service will follow at 8:00. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a. m. on Thursday at St. John's of the Wilderness Church, Lake Clear Interment will be in Lake Clear Cemetery.
