Mallie W. Fribance

LAKE PLACID – Mallie W. Fribance, 95, died Friday evening at Uilein Mercy Center here, where she had been, a resident for 10 years.

She was born in Wilmington, a daughter of Charles and Addie (Hickock) Wardner.

Her husband, William, is deceased.

Mrs. Fribance is survived by a step-granddaughter, Mrs. George Bettinger of Naples, Fla.

Before marrying Mr. Fribance, she assisted her father in managing the Rustic Lodge and Hiawatha Lodge, both in Coreys, and the Lake Clear Inn.

Mrs. Fribance later moved to Hartford, Conn., where she resided until shortly before her admission to Uilein.

She was postmistress of the Upper St. Regis Post Office for more than 40 years.

There will be no calling hours and a funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fortune Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, with the Rev. Philip Zebley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Brighton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Uilein Mercy Center.
