Arthur J. Meagher was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Meagher of 17 McClelland Street.

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Arthur J. Meagher, 74, of Pensacola, Fla. and formerly of Webster, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999 at the Baptist Manor Home in Pensacola, Fla. Born Jan. 24, 1924 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of James and Clare (Hornby) Meagher.

Mr. Meagher married his wife, Edith, at the Corpus Christi Church in Rochester and they made their home in Webster. Following her death in 1988, Mr. Meagher moved to Pensacola in 1990. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak in Rochester after 18 years of service as a machinist. Prior to that, he worked for 20 years as a machinist at Singer Corp. in Rochester.

He was a WWII veteran serving in Germany and Holland as an M.P. While living in Webster, he was a member of St. Rita's Church and the American Legion. In Pensacola, he attended St. Paul's Church. He enjoyed horse racing and vegetable gardening.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley (William) Shaw; five brothers, Gerald, Ralph, Albert, Vincent and Bernard; five sisters, Doris Schmidt, Bernice Nicolls, Carolyn Shaheen, Lillian Preddice and Eileen Grady; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were to be held today, and a Mass of Christian burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Rita's Church in Webster with the Rev. Charles Latus officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
