There are a bunch of lovely painted utility boxes all around town.

These were created in 2013 as part of a local civic arts initiative. In this nice article about the project, The Oregonian writes: "Using money from Eugene’s percent-for-art ordinance, which dedicates 1 percent of the budget for eligible city-funded construction projects to public art, the city’s Cultural Services Department took an unusual approach to its latest project." That article also includes a map of where you can find all the boxes.

The utility boxes were painted by artists Alex Southworth, Wendy Huhn and Bryan Putnam, who each painted 5 boxes.
