- Davis campus first conceived as the University Farm, the agricultural arm of UC Berkeley. Initial students take short classes during the fall.
- The farm opens for instruction in October offering five separate short courses for farmers.
- Yolo County starts the county library system in California.
- "Smiley" Atteberry begins the Winters Davis Auto Stage Line. Auto leaves Winters for Davis at 6:15am and 2:30pm. Auto leaves Davis for Winters at 7:45am and 4:00pm.
