Mid City Bikes recently moved from their tiny location on the north side of Government to the south side of Government St, a few blocks towards the River/downtown. They're next door to a yellow antique shop, across Govt St. from a gas station. The building has a blue painted sign for the former occupant, a music business. A much smaller window sign is the bike logo. This place is HARD to find, unless you're on foot or.... a bike! The new space is normal-bike-store sized. The new and used bike selection is quite small (perhaps outnumbered by the friendly owner's own bikes scattered about.) But that's ok, because these competent, respectful, economical mechanics will fix up your old beater or keep your old honey running. They use used parts if you want them to, don't push more maintenance than the machine deserves, and do great work at extremely (as in, can't last long) reasonable prices. And, they sponsor Red Stick Roller Derby! What more could a bike lover ask for?
