Ypsilanti Mayor Paul Schreiber, elected in November 2006, has proposed an "Ypsilanti 2020" task force made of local community leaders The task force had the mission of envisioning Ypsilanti's future and making recommendations for reaching it. The name refers both to the year 2020, a target for visioning, and "clear" 20/20 vision.
Initially proposed by the Mayor during his campaign as a "First 100 Days" committee, the Task Force took two years before delivering their final presentation.
The Task Force's final report took the form of a printed binder with short summaries of areas of exploration and collections of "resources", mostly printed from the internet; the digital version on the city's website is a collection of scanned PDFs:
- Part 1 (intro & historic preservation) -- 40 page pdf
- Part 2 (historic preservation cont.) -- 81 page pdf
- Part 3 (historic pres cont.; "Neighborhoods" section begins on pg. 102; "Green Spaces" / sustainability begins 149) -- 162 pg pdf.
- Part 4 (sustainability continued; "Business Districts" begins page 43; "arts" begins page 61) -- 89 page pdf.
- Part 5 (arts continued; "events & economic development" begins page 38; "transportation" begins page 50; "life cycles" begins page 105) -- 118 page pdf
