Lell Hawley Woolley (L.H. Woolley) (September 23, 1825 - May 1920?) was an early Oakland pioneer and historian. In a September 10, 1919 article of the Oakland Tribune, Woolley will be reaching his 94th birthday soon, making him the oldest living California pioneer and the oldest pioneer Mason in the state of California as a member for 72 years. He lived at 1715 East 16th Street, Oakland.
Woolley was born in Vermont and moved to California at the age of 24 in 1849, where expect for a trip back East in 1852 to get married, he lived in San Francisco from 1854 to 1881 when he moved to Oakland.
The 96th man to join the old Vigilance committee, Woolley guarded Terry. "On the 2nd of June, 1856, the city was in great excitement at an attempt by David S. Terry to stab Sterling A. Hopkins, a member of the Committee. Terry was one of the judges of the Supreme Court." 1
