Brampton is a Canadian city located in Southern Ontario. It forms part of the Greater Toronto Area. As off 2011, it is the home of over 600,000 residents. Brampton is the third-largest city in the GTA and the ninth largest city in Canada. It was awarded city status in 1974.
It is one of only 11 cities across North America designated as an International Safe Community by the World Health Organization.
