\n\tThe Village at Hendrix is a New Urbanist neighborhood on property owned by Hendrix College. It encompasses 100 acres, about half of which currently have houses. In the center is the Hendrix bookstore, Zaza's Pizza, Panera, and several other commercial spots.\u00a0 On the north end of the village is a large gas company building.
\n\n\tThe designer of the neighborhood, Andres Duany, is the same that produced the Truman Show community of Seaside, Florida. The design of homes in the neighborhood was inspired by architectural elements drawn from the Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock and a 1923 catalog of home design called Your Future Home. The project is run by Traditional Neighborhood Development Partners, who have many similar projects in the works.
