Grew up in Walnut Creek, CA. Spent my Sundays at First Christian Church in Oakland. If you haven’t checked out Delilah Beasley’s columns from the 1920s-30s, I highly recommend a visit. We are working to make them easier to read by transcribing the newspaper articles from OCR to printable, readable text.

2023-10-24: Thanks for the update on your progress, and sorry to hear you've been having problems connecting. The localwiki software doesn't get much support, alas. Question: Do you use oaklandwiki.org or localwiki.org/oakland to access the wiki? If you use the former, maybe try the latter to see if that works any better. They should go to the same place, but... -- gene
